SURGEONFISH
Childhood friends Nessa Bernard, Sora Mata, and Philandros Borris formed a band named "SURGEONFISH" when they were all 14 years of age. Prior to the Vast Purge, the band focused on punk rock, despite classically-trained Nessa not being a good fit for the genre. To celebrate their second anniversary, SURGEONFISH transitioned to a progressive rock sound. As the band had no drummer of their own, they would either ask friends to join them in performances, or pre-record drums to accompany their live performances. They achieved modest success in their native Matui, before breaking into Byfaean cultural consciousness with the politically-charged album "Fragmented". At the peak of their popularity, SURGEONFISH went on hiatus while all its members started college.
Following the Vast Purge, Nessa suggested reviving the band. Punch took notice of SURGEONFISH while they were having a practice session, and offered to manage and promote the band. In what would have been SURGEONFISH's 7th year anniversary, a permanent drummer, Gail Abbey, was added to the band's roster. |
